My career

I have been in the fortunate position to have secured a full time graduate job with Barclays after completing an internship in the summer after I graduated. Barclays have allowed me to have a year out prior to starting with them, which means I have been lucky to embark on a ski season and I plan to then travel for a few months afterwards.

Why Birmingham Business School?

Studying at Birmingham was excellent; I definitely made the right choice. The staff are very experienced and knowledgeable. They put the onus on you to seek their help and advice and are always very willing to contribute when you do. My experience studying at Birmingham has definitely prepared me for the 'real world' and my future career.

"I really enjoyed the diverse range of opportunities that were available...."

The Birmingham experience

Living in Birmingham really exceeded my expectations. The Vale in first year is a fantastic place to live. Selly Oak is a great community and your friends are always only just round the corner. The city centre was also far better than I expected and the night life is pretty good too. I really enjoyed the diverse range of opportunities that were available to me, from constantly meeting new people, going on University ski trips to being part of the rowing club. There was always something to do.

Tips and advice

Get to know your lecturers and speak to them. They will share lots of information that will really improve your understanding of their subjects. Take part in the Year in Industry or Year Abroad, you will learn a lot about yourself and have some fantastic experiences. Get involved in sport at the University, it will aid your studies and you will meet loads more people.

In my experience of seeking employment since graduation I sincerely believe that there are plenty of opportunities out there for graduates. If you apply yourself correctly and think carefully about what the employers are looking for job offers will come easily to you.
