English for International Students
International students from a 12 year education system are welcome to apply for the International Foundation Programme with the English for International Students Unit to qualify for undergraduate programmes at the Business School.
The International Foundation Programme is a one-year programme for international, academically able, well motivated students who come from countries where the final school leaving certificate is not accepted for direct entry onto undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Birmingham. This is normally the case where students have only 12 years of primary and secondary education.
Please note: This course is for international students for whom English is a foreign language.
Study in Singapore
Birmingham Business School is now offering a number of Undergraduate Business programmes in Singapore. Faculty who already teach modules in Birmingham have flown to Singapore to teach the same modules in block format.
The programmes are proving attractive to Singaporean students and the first cohort of 70 students will graduate next summer. The second cohort has 100 students. 8 students on the International Business variant spent March – May 2010 in Birmingham. This was so popular that 6 of them chose to stay in the UK to finish their degree. We are now preparing for the second cohort of students to arrive. They will study a short programme including modules on British culture and team building. In order to complete their degree, last years’ students will take up internship positions in China and in Vietnam.
Morris Lin, one of the first students to enroll on the course said; “I recently completed a Diploma in Business Management from SIM University and all along I wanted to study for a degree course. I am interested in pursuing a career in the business sector and I chose Business Management as my path towards fulfilling my goal.
