David Dein – Former Vice Chairman, Arsenal Football Club
Guest lecture 'Leaderships lessons from the “World of Sport”' for undergraduate year 2 students taking the Fundamentals of Leadership module.
David joined the Arsenal FC Board in 1983 and was made Vice-Chairman in the same year. He also rose to Vice-Chairman of the Football Association, and has served on numerous UEFA and FIFA Committees as well as being President of the Arsenal Ladies Team, which has consistently been the best in the country.
He was the man who brought Arsene Wenger to Arsenal in 1996 and during David’s reign the Club has won a total of 18 trophies:
Football League x 5
FA Cup x 5
UEFA Cup Winners Cup x 1
the League Cup x 2
the Community Shield x 5.
He was one of the main architects of the Premier League in 1992 and has been at the forefront of many of the important changes that have taken place over the last three decades in world football.
