During the last week, the news of Halal meat being sold in supermarkets has been heavily discussed, focussing on the fact that there appears to be less transparency in labelling in this respect than thought.
Birmingham Business School’s Dr Pamela Robinson featured on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC WM discussing the issue and offering her expert opinion.
Dr Robinson says that it all depends on what we want to have on our food packaging and whether consumers really want to be informed of the whole process from “farm to fork”.

Dr Pamela Robinson was previously employed in the retail sector in a number of senior management roles, with responsibility for buying and marketing of food products. Pam's research interests include global political economy, corporate social responsibility and governance and self-regulation in global supply chains.
