Professor Jim Love, Chair of International Business at Birmingham Business School, has been elected to membership of the Academy of Social Sciences, the principal professional body for social sciences in the UK.
The Academy's mission is to promote social sciences in the United Kingdom for the public benefit.
The Academy is composed of over 700 Individual Academicians and 40 Learned Societies. Academicians are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors.
The paramount requirement for successful nomination is a significant contribution to Social Science and its promotion. The election to membership also brings with it a great deal of prestige because those who obtain membership can only do so by being nominated by their peers.
The Academy responds to Government and other consultations on behalf of the social science community, organises meetings about social science and seminars on topics that span social science disciplines, and sponsors a number of schemes that promote social science and enhance its value to society.
