Simon Collinson, Dean of Birmingham Business School, Professor of International Business and Innovation and co-author of the FT/Pearson ‘International Business’ textbook will discuss how multinational firms manage innovation.
He will explore how different kinds of global organization structures enable some firms to match the location of innovation with their strategic priorities, better than others. This involves optimizing the location of different kinds of innovative activity, in relation to the firm’s value chain.
It also involves dynamically (re)combining knowledge of customer’s needs and market variations around the world with changing sources of inputs (materials, labour, technology, expertise) to meet those needs. Both are a source of competitive advantage.
This talk is open to all MBA and MSc International Business postgraduate students and faculty of Birmingham Business School.
