Crime and crime policy are at the heart of policy debate with the citizenry ranking crime policy as one of the top three things they care about in most surveys. Yet, public perception of crime does not often match actual crime figures which consistently show a downward trend while the majority of the public believe crime is going up. Researchers from the University together with police officers from the West Midlands police force will be discussing a number of issues in this ESRC Festival of Social Science event.

Professor Cressy has in the course of his career published over 40 papers in learned journals together with over 40 reports and book chapters. His research in the area of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance has emphasised the role of human capital in determining both capitalisation of the business and its survival: finance usually flows towards business talent and ideas.
