We are delighted to welcome Professor Simon Collinson as Dean of Birmingham Business School and Professor of International Business and Innovation. Professor Collinson joins us from Henley Business School, University of Reading, having spent 11 years at Warwick Business School, where he held the role of Deputy Dean. He is a member of the ESRC Council and the British Academy of Management Council, a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang University and a Board member of the Simplicity Partnership. As Dean of Birmingham Business School he will be responsible for the ongoing development of internal relationships to foster inter-disciplinary collaboration and research as well as furthering the School’s external engagement with policymakers and business leaders in the UK and globally through a broad range of activities.
Professor Collinson said he is “Delighted to be joining Birmingham as Dean of Birmingham Business School in the College of Social Sciences”. He added “The Business School is already deeply committed to the local and regional economy as well as at a national and international level and I am looking forward to working with the College to deliver the international ambitions of the School and the University”.
Professor Collinson’s current research focuses on innovation and competitiveness in emerging economies, with a particular focus on China. He also studies the performance effects of organisational complexity, helping firms to simplify their structures and strategies to improve profitability. As well as publishing in leading journals he co-authors the FT / Prentice Hall 'International Business' textbook. His research has also featured in the Sunday Times, BBC Radio 4, the New Statesman and the US News and World Report.
