Posted on Wednesday 23rd October 2013

The University of Birmingham’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Peck, joined a UK government delegation led by Minister of State for Universities and Science, David Willetts, on a high profile trade visit to Shenzhen and Guangzhou last week. The two-day trip from 16-17th October 2013 enhanced the University of Birmingham’s engagement with research and businesses partners and helped showcase its research excellence.

In conjunction with the governments’ trade trip, a number of our academics were asked to comment on the UK’s varying industry links with China.

Our academic’s media commentary on the UK’s – and Birmingham’s - industry connections and future plans with China included Professor Simon Collinson being interviewed on BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Radio WM about business partnerships between the UK and China and Dr Yufeng Zhang appeared live on the BBC news channel discussing his work which focusses on high value engineering work with China.
