Thanos joined the Department of Economics in September 2012. Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, he was a Researcher at the Financial Engineering Research Center – FRC of the Management Science Laboratory (MSL). He graduated top of his class during both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Dept. of Economics of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has worked as an adjunct Lecturer in Finance at the British Hellenic College in association with the University of Wales, and as a teaching assistant at the Dept. of Management Science and Technology, (AUEB). His research interests are in the area of financial economics, applied econometrics and industrial organization.
He completed his PhD in Financial Economics in the Department of Management Science and Technology-Athens University of Economics and Business with distinction. He has received scholarships from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation and other institutions.
