Following the continued success of our PhD by distance learning, we are very pleased to announce that this mode of study will also be available for our MA by Research programmes from September 2014.

Intended either as a fulfilling, self-contained research project in itself, or as a stepping stone to a full PhD, the MA by Research generally requires a 40,000-word dissertation on a topic of your choice, completed over one year if studied full-time, or two years part-time.

As with the PhD, this mode of study gives you the flexibility to complete a research degree around existing commitments, such as work and family, and is particularly appropriate for those whose research is based away from the Birmingham campus.

All existing College of Arts and Law MA by Research programmes will be available to study by distance learning, cementing our commitment to this mode of study, and our reputation as a leading institution in this field.

Fees will remain the same as the on-campus MA by Research, and will include flights and accommodation for one compulsory visit to the Birmingham campus during the period of study.

We expect applications for the distance learning MA by Research to open in December 2013. In the meantime, to find out more or register your interest, please email artsandlawgraduateschool@contacts.bham.ac.uk
