Research Opportunities

studentsThe School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Birmingham has an international reputation in the following areas:

The School’s research capacity is facilitated by access to a wide range of ‘state of the art’ technologies including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) for structural and metabolomic analysis (housed in the Henry Wellcome Building), proteomics and protein chip analysis, gene expression profiling, next-generation sequencing, confocal microscopy and a  flow cytometry cell sorting service.

The application of these technologies in conjunction with a very large patient base accessible through our Clinical Trials Unit provides a unique opportunity to identify new cancer biomarkers and to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
