Jan Idkowiak is a Clinical Research Fellow (funded by a Research Training Fellowship from the Medical Research Council, UK). He came to Birmingham in 2009 funded by the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) to do 2 years of research after having received training in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Endocrinology/Diabetology in Dresden, Germany. As the main part of his training programme aiming towards a PhD (supervised by Prof Wiebke Arlt and Prof Timothy G Barrett, University of Birmingham), he is based in the labs at the Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (CEDAM) with clinical research activities at the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility (WTCRF). He is also involved in regular outpatient clinics care at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
