Anita Pye qualified with a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Biology from Trent Polytechnic Nottingham in 1989. She went on to study for a Ph.D at the University of Birmingham. She spent 14 months working at the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, together with a short period of time at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands as part of her research looking at non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae in chronic lung disease.
Anita Pye is responsible for overseeing the daily running of a microbiology research laboratory which processes samples from specialist outpatient clinics for patients with chronic lung diseases and also serves as a central screening laboratory for international clinical trials. She has experience in all aspects of organisation and administration of large and complex clinical trials including 2 major international, multi-centre clinical trials in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and several trials in patients with COPD and Bronchiectasis.
