Dr Kostas Gkatzionis is Lecturer in Food Microbiology. He has benefited from being exposed to a number of different industries, universities and cultural environments throughout his career. His teaching and research take a multidisciplinary approach.

He is involved in teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate level, through lectures, laboratory practicals and direct student supervision. 

Dr Kostas Gkatzionis is interested in applied research addressing industrial problems and challenges as well as fundamental investigations into the improvement of food quality and safety.

Teaching topics include microbiology, molecular biology, food science and research skills.

Postgraduate supervision

Dr Gkatzionis is interested in supervising postgraduate students in the following areas:

  • Food safety
  • Flavour production and sensory
