- Richard Blumenthal graduated in July 2013 with a BSc Computer Science with Industrial Year and his final year project was chosen to be in the Top 8 of the Undergraduate Awards' global award programme. He was "Highly Commended" for his NFT Android App
- Natural computing is the study of computational systems that borrow ideas from a large variety of natural systems such as Darwinian evolution, the immune systems of vertebrates, the nervous system, or the foraging behaviour of ants. Birmingham Fellow Dr Christine Zarges' research in this field is in particular concerned with the theoretical analysis of artificial immune systems and evolutionary algorithms used for optimisation.
