Gabrielle Stanley is a part-time Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Associate Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry at the School of Dentistry, responsible for one-to-one teaching of dental students, giving undergraduate lectures and seminars, arranging the term timetable and the day to day administration of the Paediatric Dentistry section of the BDS course.
Gabrielle also occasionally gives lectures and contributes to postgraduate courses in Paediatric Dentistry.
Until recently, she was a part time Associate Specialist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Gabrielle qualified in Dentistry from Birmingham University in 1971 and worked part time in the Community Dental Service in Birmingham until 1998 as a Dental Officer, then a Senior Dental Officer.
She worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital as a Clinical Assistant and then Associate Specialist from 1982 until 2011.
She was an Honorary Clinical Assistant in Orthodontics at Birmingham City Hospital from 1986-1994.
Gabrielle has a strong interest in Health Promotion, Preventive Dentistry and treating nervous patients and has organised Health Fairs, National Smile Week and other large Oral Health Promotions and Competitions, appearing on both television and radio as part of these.
She has been a committee member of the Birmingham Medical Institute Section of Odontology, the Birmingham Dental Advisory Committee, Oral Health Promotion Research Group, BDA Central Counties CDS Committee and Chairman, Secretary and National Council Representative of the Midlands Branch of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry.
