Louis Mackenzie is a general dental practitioner working in Selly Park, Birmingham.
He is also a clinical lecturer at the school of dentistry where he teaches on final year GDP clinics and in the phantom head room with 2nd and 4th years.
He delivers lectures to all years of undergraduate students for the departments of conservative dentistry, oral biology, oral pathology and in the introduction to clinical dentistry module.
Louis runs a series of popular hands-on courses at the dental school & across the country and regularly lectures for a number of dental manufacturing companies and for dental insurance provider Denplan.
Louis qualified from Birmingham in 1990 and has worked as an associate at the Selly Park dental centre in Birmingham ever since.
He was appointed as a part-time clinical lecturer at the school of dentistry in 2004.
He designs and develops e-learning material to support undergraduate teaching.
He runs the special study module in aesthetic restorative dentistry with Owen Addison.
He delivers postgraduate lectures and hands on courses to dentists, foundation year trainees, dental therapists, nurses and masters students (UCLAN) on a variety of subjects including direct and indirect restorative techniques, caries and minimal intervention dentistry.
He received the 2009 university of Birmingham award for teaching excellence.
