The University of Birmingham’s Department of Drama and Theatre Arts is delighted to announce a range of AHRC-funded studentships for September 2014, through its involvement in the Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership.
We would like to encourage applications for PhD study in the following areas:
- Contemporary theatre and performance
- 19th and 20th century British, European and American theatre and performance
- Performance technologies
- Performer and directing methodologies
- Popular theatre and performance
- Practices of Russian theatre and actor training
- Shakespeare
- Theatre and critical theory/ philosophy
- Theatre and music
- Theatre and politics
- Theatre on film
- Theatrical adaptation and/or translation
- UK arts funding policies and practices
These scholarships will enable the recipients to undertake meaningful and stimulating research under the guidance of a supportive and distinguished group of academics. To apply for funding, students must have applied for a place to study at the University of Birmingham and have already provided two academic references via the university’s application system. The deadline for applications is 12 noon, Thursday 9 January 2014.
