PhD English Literature

This is a study of the landscapes that appear in Old English poetry. It is concerned with the contribution they make to the narratives, how they do so, and the processes that facilitate this. Landscapes provide a connection between the known and familiar, abstract concepts, and the imaginative life of the mind, operating on the aesthetic interface between daily life and the narratives that surround it.
