Developing Translator's Skills in the Syrian Context
Supervisors: Dr Gabriela Saldanha and Dr Jeannette Littlemore
As a consequence of the process of globalization and technological developments, the need for highly qualified translators, and simultaneously for developed translation training programmes has become a necessity. The principal aim of my research is to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of the translators training situation in the Syrian academic context. This study tries to define the obstacles that may prevent developing the programmes of translation training and suggest solutions to the emerging problems.
The research might also provide other universities in Syria and the Arab region with a draft curriculum that could help in establishing revised and advanced translation training programmes, which would be considered as a basis for improving the current situation of translation training.
