The Department of English Language and Linguistics received a score of 96% overall satisfaction in the most recent National Student Survey.

The National Student Survey (NSS) is a national initiative, conducted by Ipsos MORI annually. The survey gathers opinions from students about their experiences of their courses and asks for honest feedback.

We are also celebrating success the leagues tables. English has climbed up the league tables to 6th in the Guardian League Table, 8th in the Complete University Guide and 8th in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The Department of English Language and Linguistics at Birmingham is also among the top research departments in the country in the national Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 exercise.
