The Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics is pleased to announce that Jon Nilsen, one of our distance MA students, reached the finals for this year’s British Council Awards for the best ELT Masters Dissertation.

Jon’s research looked at whether using the first language helped learners to retain new vocabulary. Congratulations to Jon as we know the competition was very fierce and he did remarkably well to be listed amongst the finalists.
