In my research, I hope to examine the problems facing Saudi learners of English when confronted with figurative speech. I am to design a conceptual syllabus which introduces figurative thinking to learners in a way that ensures their full acquisition of communicative competence. I believe that the best figurative course is one that facilitates both teacher and student collaboration. The end result of such a syllabus could be better conceptual fluency and metaphor retention in second language learners.
