Phd title: A corpus-assisted study on discourses of surveillance since 9/11
Supervisor: Professor Michaela Mahlberg
PhD Applied Linguistics

My research interests are in corpus linguistics and discourse analysis, with particular focus on discourses surrounding the concept of surveillance. In my current research project I am investigating the similarities and differences between the representations of ‘surveillance’ in academic writing and media domains (newspaper articles and blogs). This project is motivated both methodologically in taking a corpus linguistic approach to the study of meaning and by the aim of understanding the social issue of surveillance from a linguistic perspective.
