Research Topic: Editing ‘Look About You’
My PhD work will produce a modern spelling critical edition of the comedy Look About You (published 1600, author unattributed). This project joins my background in theatre, as dramaturg, actor and director, to my interest in current editorial practices. Annotations aim at the playable and practical, and the apparatus guides the user through my own editorial choices and toward further reading. Introductory writings include interrogating questions of authorship and dating, placing the play in context of contemporary theatrical trends and the Admiral’s Men repertory, and tracing its known performance history.
