Research topic: Editing for the Dramatic Publication in Early Modern England
My research aims at exploring the formation process of play editing for publication and the elevation of the status of drama to literature in seventeenth-century England. The main tasks of my research are collating variant readings extant to the early modern plays and investigating the editorial traces left in the text and the identity of the early editors. My study in England has been funded by Yoshida Scholarship Foundation (whose parent body is YKK Corporation in Japan) since 2007, ORSAS and the School of English, Drama, and American & Canadian Studies of the University of Birmingham since 2008.
