I am originally from Nottingham, where I lived with my family. I moved to York for my undergraduate degree to Study Psychology BSc. I enjoyed my time in York, but after three years I felt the city was a bit sleepy. I decided on moving to Birmingham because of the range of opportunities it had to offer. In particular I was keen to learning to teach in a diverse and challenging environment. I love the city, and the staff and children that I am working with are definitely living up to my expectations!
The PGCE Primary course is providing me with a great grounding for my teaching career. The combination of teaching placements and lectures is a great balance which has given me inspiration, and enabled me to try these ideas out in the classroom. I have been given great variety in my school placements, and this has really enhanced my learning. One placement was in the city, while the other is in the Black Country. I have found the course lecturers to be really knowledgeable, really enthusiastic and always keen to help. This has certainly made the course for me.
I hope to remain in Birmingham at the end of the course and teach in the city or surrounding areas. I feel that working in this city is so rewarding because you get to work with such a mix of people. I am really excited about getting a job and working with my own class.
