The School of Education has a history of 5 star rated research and was ranked 9th in 2014 with 97% of its work is recognised as being of international quality. In the 2015 QS World rankings it is ranked as 27th globally and 4th in Europe. Its professional training programmes for teachers are the most innovative in the country and are officially rated Outstanding in every category. It's staff are highly committed and enthusiastic, delivering outstanding education and training experiences for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The School of Education has three Honour Degree programmes . Two of them are joint Honours degree programmes which provide you with the opportunity to study either Education and History or Education and Sociology.
If you require a foundation year, to ensure you are eligible for first year undergraduate entry to universities in the UK, you may wish to consider the Birmingham International Academy which offers you pathways in each of the five colleges, including Social Science, with progression to almost any undergraduate programme upon successful completion.
We have a large number of postgraduate programmes in the School of Education (called 'graduate education' in North America). Popular programmes include the MA International Studies in Education (with specialisms in Education and Development), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities ('SEND'), the TEFL programme and our new MA in Character Education.
Opportunities to study may also be found on other courses within the school, particularly on many of the campus based Professional Development Programmes which have progression pathways leading to Masters level. Many of these courses are unique and may be found in few other places in the UK.
