In 2004 the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences celebrated the 75th anniversary of the award of its first geography degree and in 2007 it marked 125 years of Geology at Birmingham with a gala dinner in the Lapworth museum.
Each year the School hosts a number of smaller alumni events for its former students.
Bob Gwynne is the Alumni link for Geography and Environmental Sciences. He has been at the School since 1975 so remembers a large number of alumni that have gone through our portals. Please contact him (r.n.gwynne@bham.ac.uk) if you want any information about the School, details of Alumni meetings or would like to plan or take part in an Alumni event.
Carl Stevenson is the contact for Earth Sciences Alumni. He joined the School in 2001 as a PhD student and is now a lecturer in Geology. Carl will be taking over from Alan Thomas and distributing the Geology Club newsletter. Please contact him (c.t.stevenson@bham.ac.uk) if you would like to be on the circulation list or if you have any memories of Earth Sciences at Birmingham that you would like to share.
We hope that our link with the University's alumni website will make you more aware of the activities and events taking place in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Please check out our new building, and details of our varied research activities. For those thinking of returning to education, the School has a wide range of postgraduate courses and research opportunities.
This website would welcome any contributions from alumni (plans for Alumni events, reminiscences of field courses, comments on geography and so forth).
