Cutting edge urban climate research
The Birmingham Urban Climate Lab (BUCL) was established in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences in May 2011. The research lab will focus on all aspects of urban climate over the coming years.
Urban heat is amongst the most pressing priorities of the impacts of climate change - urban areas are already vulnerable to decreased thermal comfort during heatwaves and projected rates of urban growth mean that vulnerability will increase as the proposed impacts of climate change become realised.
