Research Methods and Project Planning for Environmental Geosciences

Description

Study and analysis of available literature and data relating to the proposed project, and development of familiarity with appropriate methods of retrieving and recording new data.

There is considerable flexibility in the choice of project. A summary report will be prepared introducing the project, detailing the proposed methodology, discussing potential problems, and outlining a planned programme of study.

One–three weeks will be spent engaged on project fieldwork during the summer vacation preceding Year 3.

Delivery

  • 6 x 1 hour sessions commencing with lecture style presentation and ending in small group tutorial sessions
  • 1 hour H&S and Ethics briefing
  • 4 hour first aid course
  • 2 hours tutorial time with project advisor
