Simon undertook a BSc in Meteorology as well as an MSc in Meteorology at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany (FUB). During his studies at FUB he worked for four years as a research assistant. Simon firstly joined the University of Birmingham as a Research Associate in November 2011. Following a visit at the Climate Change Research Centre in Sydney, Australia, he started a PhD in Atmospheric Science under supervision of Dr Gregor Leckebusch and Dr Martin Widmann here in Birmingham in September 2012.
