Title of PhD: Towards Sustainable Water Management in North Western Thailand: A Governance Approach

Supervisors: Dr Julian Clark and Dr David Hannah

Chutiwalanch Semmahasak is undertaking doctoral research on water governance in NW Thailand with the aim of examining how sustainable water management can be achieved through a consideration of different governance approaches that might encourage a more flexible and suitable water management regime, sensitive to local socio-economic and environmental changes, based on principles of multiple- stakeholder involvement.

Chutiwalanch’s current work is funded by GEES Overseas Student Scholarship and Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Thailand.

Biography

Chutiwalanch Semmahasak is a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, and also holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Planning from Mahidol University, Nakhon Prathom, all in Thailand. Between her Masters and current PhD research she spent six years as a lecturer in Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Thailand.
