Title of PhD: Using forensic microscopy to elucidate pathways of halogenated flame retardant migration into indoor dust

Cassandra Rauert is undertaking research into brominated flame retardants in the indoor environment in a collaborative project under the INFLAME program (EU-funded under the Marie Curie Initial Training Network). The project focuses on migration pathways of flame retardants from treated products around the home/office into indoor dust which leads to human contamination. Emission chamber experiments and microscopy will be utilized in these experiments.

Biography
Cassandra Rauert studied Chemistry at the University of Sydney (Sydney, Australia), graduating with Honours in analytical Chemistry. Between her Honours and PhD she worked at the National Measurement Institute (Sydney) in the Dioxins Analysis Unit where she researched various persistent organic pollutants, implementing methods for commercial analyses.
