Title of PhD: Combining geophysical and environmental tracer approaches for identifying shallow subsurface aquifer-river exchange

Supervisors: Dr Stefan Krause and Dr Michael Rivett

Rebwar Dara is undertaking doctoral research into groundwater-surface water exchange fluxes. He uses innovative monitoring approaches that combine Geophysical methods such as Ground penetrating radar (GPR), hydrology and environmental tracer for identifying spatial patterns in streambed physical properties as the main controls of the aquifer river exchanges flow of meandering rivers.

Biography

I worked as a teaching assistant in the Geology Department at Salahaddin university-Erbil-Iraq- College of Science, from January 2006 to October 2008. Then In October 2008, I was accepted onto an MSc Program at Salahaddin University, specialising in Hydrogeology. In February 2011, I received an MSc degree in Geology and became Assistant Lecturer for the Hydrogeology course in the Department of Geology at Salahaddin University.

Currently, I am doing a PhD at University of Birmingham, and also doing demonstration work in the School of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Science.

Hydrogeology, Hydrogeology, Contaminant hydrology, Exchange between GW-SW, Geophysic (electrical resistivity method)
