Where women writers and activists' serious contributions to matters of life and death or war and peace are concerned, they have often been received as contributions by women rather than as contributions to the topics they write on such as pacifism, feminism, totalitarianism or politics more generally. The seminar addresses the impact of gendered receptions by way of 20th-century case studies. This will be followed by questions and discussion with the audience.
