Institute for German Studies (IGS)

The Institute for German Studies (IGS) belongs to a worldwide network of centres for German and European Studies linked with the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). Our research is cross-disciplinary and encompasses the culture, history, politics and economics of Germany in its European context.

Our mission is to be a centre for expertise on contemporary Germany, and to support postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers, bringing them together with experienced scholars and exciting international thinkers on Germany and Europe.

We invite expressions of interest from prospective postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers.

Call for papers: 'German Politics in Times of Populism'

The German Politics Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association (PSA), supported by the Institute for German Studies at the University of Birmingham, invite proposals for papers for a one-day workshop on the theme of 'German Politics in Times of Populism'.
