Professional development

If you are an employer looking for a course for your employees, or an individual investing in your own personal development, we offer a diverse range of courses and pathways of study and development. All of our CPD courses are designed to reflect work-based practice, while also benefiting from the internationally significant research that is inherent in our strong academic knowledge base.

As well as our postgraduate degrees we offer short courses designed to develop the skills and knowledge of professional people. Some schools and departments have their own well-established CPD programmes - please contact departments directly to find out more about the opportunities available.

We have a wide range of Continuing professional development (CPD) options from degrees to accredited short courses and seminars:

The Institute of Local Government Studies has a major influence on public policy and management, providing strong links with politicians, councillors, organisations and individuals who share our commitment to local communities.

  • Five day accredited short courses - INLOGOV has an exciting range of five day programmes each with optional accredited towards an MSc / Certificate
  • One-day seminars - Each year INLOGOV provides a number of one-day seminars on topical themes for local government including scrutiny, commissioning and public service outcomes.
