IDD staff member invited as guest lecturer at Norwegian university
Brian Lucas, manager of the Governance and Social Development Resource Centre, has been invited as a guest lecturer in Development Management at the University of Agder.
Brian Lucas spent two weeks in August at the Centre for Development Studies at the University of Agder in Norway serving as a lecturer in Development Management. Brian has contributed to this highly international programme each year since its inception in 2005. His current role involves teaching a module on management and supporting other activities connected with the beginning of the academic year. Other potential areas of collaboration between the University of Agder and IDD are also under discussion.
The University of Agder is located in southern Norway and has 9000 students on three campuses. Its Development Management programme is an innovative and highly international two-year master’s degree programme that combines on-campus and distance education through partnerships with universities in Africa and Asia.
In IDD, Brian manages the Governance and Social Development Resource Centre (www.gsdrc.org), a knowledge management team that provides policy research to international development agencies to support better-informed policy-making and project design, implementation, and evaluation. He also convenes the department’s module in Knowledge Management and e‑Governance.
