Siân joined the GSDRC in 2013 and provides research services to the UK’s Department for International Development, the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the European Commission on a range of governance, conflict and social development policy issues. Her recent work has focused on state-building approaches, conflict analysis, and changing policy approaches to aid in middle-income countries.
Prior to the GSDRC, Siân worked as a researcher for the think tanks the Overseas Development Institute and Open Europe. She also writes freelance, and has been published by the Guardian, Chatham House and Argentine think tank El Centro Argentino de Estudios Internacionales (CAEI). She is fluent in Spanish and speaks competent Portuguese.
