This Executive Programme in Strategic Commissioning focuses directly on the current challenge of coping with public service funding cuts at a time of rising service needs and expectations and considers issues such as:

  • Structures and models for strategic commissioning
  • Shaping more successful communities and improved outcomes
  • Integration across all public services
  • Monitoring and evaluating of outcomes
  • Driving organisational and partnership performance
  • Improving procurement
  • Making the most of alternative methods of service delivery
  • Harnessing user and community co-production

Accreditation

Delegates can, if they wish, register towards a postgraduate certificate accreditation (20 credits) and complete two assignments.

Who should attend?

The programme is designed for all those involved in commissioning and procurement of services from public, private and third sectors, including Local Authorities, ,Health and Wellbeing Boards, NHS agencies (e.g. CCGs), Local Partnerships, LSPs, and service providers in the private and the voluntary sectors. The programme is designed to be relevant both to those who already have commissioning experience but also to those who are coming new to commissioning from other public service backgrounds.

The course will be very interactive, encouraging all participants to share their experiences and explore together alternative approaches.

Who will deliver the course?

The programme is delivered by INLOGOV tutors who are leaders in the national field of strategic commissioning and public management. INLOGOV’s work – research, action learning, executive development and postgraduate programmes – seeks to enhance practice through academic insight, helping local public services improve outcomes and efficiency.
