Mortgage and Protection Support Advisor, Paradigm Mortgage Services
Since graduating, I have been working at Paradigm Mortgage Services based in Birmingham. This job role has allowed me to develop several different skills in numerous areas and I have gained a lot of confidence whilst doing so. My job roles include marketing activities, mortgage helpdesk – which entails providing support to our member firms by phone and email, events organising and management, as well as basic admin roles. I am also studying for an exam in Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics. All of these mean that each day is very different, enjoyable and allows me to develop further skills.
The University of Birmingham has a fantastic and very beautiful campus which has everything you could need as a student; there is always something going on or something to get involved in. There are so many societies for every imaginable hobby or sport which provides a brilliant opportunity to meet people who share the same interests during your time at University. You are guaranteed to have fun, make fantastic friends and also have something else to put on your CV.
Studying International Relations with Political Science gives a brilliant insight into how the world works; it shows you how politics, history, geography, economics, ethics and law are all interconnected at an international level, and the course allows you to look in close detail at all of these topics. I personally really enjoyed modules relating to economics and international development, and the great thing about this course is that you are encouraged to follow these interests."
The lecturers are really passionate about what they are teaching and are happy to help where they can to ensure that you get the most out of your time at the University of Birmingham. Don’t be afraid to go and speak to them to discuss ideas or any problems that you have.
