The Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS) is a large and friendly department and is widely regarded as one of the fastest growing, most dynamic and forward-looking departments in the country.
Choose to study in the Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS) and take the opportunity to examine some of the most important political issues, both at a national and international level, that we, as citizens, face in the 21st century. We currently run a very successful Single Honours BA in Sociology. In addition, we offer several Joint Honours programmes.
As well as focusing on your degree of choice, you will have the opportunity to take part in events and activities that will enhance your all-round knowledge and learning experience. For example, you can participate in round-table discussions, help organise visiting speakers, go on trips to Westminster and Whitehall and hear invited politicians and leading international academics speak.

Each year from within POLSIS up to a quarter of our students have the opportunity to complete a year abroad as part of their degree program and benefit tremendously from increased confidence and different academic perspective of having studied a politics based degree in a foreign country.
