What is anti-Muslim racism? Is it really just about Muslims? Can we call it 'racism'? How does the Bristish phenomenon compare with anti-Muslim animosity elsewhere in europe?

This one-day open workshop encourages participants to compare and exchange ideas about Islam in the media, and how Britain and Germany do and should egage with the issue through culture and education.

Keynote speakers Robin Richardson (former Director of the Runnymede Trust, and Governmental Advisor) and Dr. Azadeh Sharifi (International Theatre Institute, Berlin) will be joined for the roundtable discussion by Zubeda Limbada (Birmingham City Council) Dr. Chris Allen (Research Fellow, University of Birmingham) and Corinna Maschke (Berlin Network against Anti Muslim Racism and Islamaphobia).

Free event, all welcome. Please confirm attendance and contact Leila Mukhida (LXM034@bham.ac.uk) with queries.

Zietgeist is an open research project 2010-2013. Hosted by the Institute for German Studies with the support of the DAAD.
