Sylwia Samira Kowalczuk, an International Relations student in POLSIS, was awarded a place on the UK government-funded Study China Programme. Over the summer she was given a possibility to immerse herself in Chinese life by studying in Shanghai.
The Study China Programme is a UK government-funded 17-day study programme in China. It’s an opportunity to learn about China, its language and its culture, and it’s open to undergraduates in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It includes the opportunity to visit China, take an intensive course in Chinese language and be immersed in Chinese cultural and social activities. The study programme gives students a chance to enhance employability skills. At the end of the programme Sylwia was offered an internship at China Economic Review.
Study China is an initiative of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills and it is managed on their behalf by the University of Manchester. More details about application process for the next Study China Programme can be found at: http://www.studychina.org.uk/
