This event provided current students with the opportunity to meet students who have recently graduated from Sociology at Birmingham and learn first-hand from them about the kinds of careers they have followed since then.
Using a 'speed networking' format students were able to discuss different career routes and learn how the alumni navigated their own paths both during their studies and after graduation.
The event started with a brief talk by the School Careers Advisor who explained the wide range of careers support and advice currently specifically tailored for Sociology students.
A total of six recent Sociology graduates, who have successfully pursued careers across diverse areas including law, management, finance, business, the third sector and academia, met informally and answered questions one-to-one with students. This advice was made especially relevant because they shared the same starting point: studying for a degree in Sociology here at Birmingham.
