The Centre for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) is a multi-disciplinary area-studies centre with a strong orientation towards the social sciences and history. It is a constituent department of the School of Government and Society within the College of Social Science.

The European Resource Centre (which includes the Baykov Library) houses one of the most important Western research collections in Russian and East European Studies, and CREES also has its own Information Service for reference materials.
