CREES scholars offer views on likely effects of Russia's accession to the WTO

Posted on Thursday 1st November 2012

Dr Richard Connolly and Emeritus Professor Philip Hanson delivered a public lecture to the WTO Scholars’ Forum on Russia’s recent accession to the World Trade Organisation on Wednesday 25th October 2012 at the University College London Faculty of Laws.

The event was organised by Dr Fiona Smith, Co-Director of the Forum, and attended by a large audience of academics and practitioners with an interest in both the WTO and Russia’s economic development. Dr. Connolly and Prof. Hanson argued that accession to the WTO was, by itself, unlikely to have a significant impact on the Russian economy in the foreseeable future.
