Integrating Ecosystem Services on Flood Risk Management

I am a Portuguese Urban Planner and my research interests falls in the broad fields of Food Risk Management and Ecosystem Services. I have comprehensive experience on Spatial Planning and Environmental Management, holding a MSc in Architecture (6years grad.) and a MSc in Planning and Project of the Urban Environment  (2 years grad.). I have fifteen years of international experience, developing my professional activity in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. I have started my professional career working with Paulo Mendes da Rocha (Pritzker laureate and Mies Van der Rohe prize) in São Paulo, Brazil. In 1998 I was awarded with a scholarship of the Oriente Foundation (Fundação Oriente) for a research project in Goa, India. In 2000 I established the Portuguese company MBS Architecture and Urban Design Ltd in Portugal and remained as Associate Manager up to 2006. In 2006/7, I have been working for the United Nations Development Programme as Municipal Technical Advisor within the Project of Decentralization and Local Governance in Lunada, Angola. Since 2008 I have been working for WSP International Sweden as urban planner within the 3rd Generation Planning Project in Tripoli, Libya.
